BA/MA Developing methods to evaluate the ecology of additive manufacturing processes
In cooperation with the Chair of Laser Technology LLT, the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT offers the opportunity to write a thesis. Additive manufacturing processes such as Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) allow near-net-shape production of components with increased functional integration and reduced material usage. Additive manufacturing is therefore considered to be of central importance in terms of increasing the sustainability of future product developments and production chains. In contrast to conventional manufacturing processes, the tool-free production of components promises advantages not only in terms of the resulting economy, but also ecology. As part of the thesis, a methodology for evaluating the ecological impact of various additive manufacturing processes is to be developed. Knowledge of additive manufacturing and sustainability management is an advantage, but not essential
