BA/MA Power modulation in spot-welding of thin-walled die-cast components
In cooperation with the Chair of Laser Technology LLT at RWTH Aachen University, the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, Europe's leading center for basic and contract research in the field of laser technology, is offering the opportunity to write a thesis in the field of "Joining and Cutting" on the subject of "Spot Seam Laser Welding". Due to its physical and mechanical properties, cast aluminum is versatile and can be used in almost every industry. Depending on the casting process, however, cast aluminum alloys can only be welded to a limited extent. Weld spatter formation, weld pool ejections, crack and pore formation can lead to rejection of the material bond, which is why welding cast aluminum alloys is a particular challenge.
