Head of Application Development Group in additive manufacturing

The Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT is Europe's leading center for contract research and development in the field of laser technology. For more than 25 years, the Fraunhofer ILT has been working with renowned companies to further develop the additive powder bed based manufacturing process LPBF for various industrial applications.


The LPBF additive manufacturing process has become firmly established in industrial production in recent years. In our 'Laser Powder Bed Fusion' department, we concentrate on various key research areas in order to expand the geometric possibilities and choice of materials and to increase the productivity and quality of components. 
 

 

What you will do

  • You will be responsible for the technical and disciplinary management of the application development team and coordinate the various tasks assigned to the individual team members
  • Your tasks include working on day-to-day projects, managing projects with a technical/scientific focus and coordinating project managers and teams on the appropriate tasks
  • As head of the application development team, you will monitor and set financial and technical targets and determine measures within the team. You are also jointly responsible for achieving these targets 
  • You are responsible for the external presentation of the services offered by your team
     

 

What you bring to the table

  • You have a Master's degree (TH, TU, U) in mechanical engineering, physics, materials engineering or a comparable course of study
  • Profound knowledge in the field of (industrial) additive manufacturing and its use in various fields of application
  • Experience in the acquisition and management of research and industrial projects 
  • A responsible and structured way of working as well as open and team-oriented communication
  • Very good knowledge of German and English is a prerequisite

Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD).

The weekly working time is 39 hours.

This position is also available on a part-time basis.

The position is initially limited to two years.
