Student assistant (m/f/d) in the field of development of EUV radiation sources and systems

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.com) currently operates 76 institutes and research units throughout Germany and is a leading applied research organization. Around 32 000 employees work with an annual research budget of 3.4 billion euros.

At the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, we may not be developing swords against the dark side of the Force, but our developments often sound like science fiction. This is because we are shaping the technologies and processes for the future of digital production, packaging and scanning technology and many other laser-based applications, e.g. 3D printing and laser fusion. Are you looking for an exciting job as a student assistant (m/f/d) that will change the future? Then become part of our #OneTeam.

The EUV Technology group develops radiation sources and systems for the wavelength range of 2-20 nm for the next generation of semiconductor lithography. This is based on pulsed laser and discharge plasmas with temperatures in the hundred thousand Kelvin range. In addition, we are researching the fundamentals of generating short-wave radiation and its potential applications.

What you will do

What you bring to the table

  • You are studying physics, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering at a technical college/university of applied sciences with good academic success to date
  • You are characterized by an independent way of working and enthusiasm
  • You also have manual dexterity, a broad technical interest and enjoy experimenting
  • Good written and spoken English and German skills round off your profile
  • Initial experience in programming (Python, system control) and knowledge in the field of vacuum technology are advantageous but not essential
