Group Leader - Life Cycle Modeling
The Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration IZM is an internationally leading institute in the field of electronic packaging for microelectronic systems with locations in Berlin, Cottbus and Dresden. Applied research focuses on technology developments in the areas of wafer level system integration and interconnection technologies at board, module and package level. Application-oriented co-design as well as reliability and sustainability studies are also used to supplement important application requirements. The focus in the area of environmentally friendly electronics is on modeling individual microelectronic processes through to modeling complete life cycles of entire products. In your role, you will contribute your expertise and experience to the management and strategic expansion of the Life Cycle Modeling group at the Berlin site and be part of the management structure of the Environmental and Reliability Engineering department.
What you will do
Assigning project management functions to employees from the group and distributing and prioritizing work tasks Managing projects and contributing to project results Conducting yearly employee feedback Skill and competencies development of employees within the Group Technical and strategic development of the Group Project acquisition and development, particularly in coordination with other groups in the department and across departments External presentation and representation of the group Planning and supporting the group's publications Supporting controlling tasks relating to work progress, target achievement and use of funds
What you bring to the table
Completed doctorate in a scientific or technical field (preferably in electrical engineering, microsystems technology, or environmental engineering) Extensive knowledge, demonstrable practical experience and very good market knowledge in the field of life cycle assessment of electronics Ability to analyze problems holistically and to develop innovative solutions and implementation strategies individually and in cooperative work Self-assured and determined manner with good communication skills for a convincing presentation, even in complex technical contexts Strong and open communication, good organizational skills and strong implementation skills Leadership to develop new approaches and technologies in a team and transfer them to industry Very good written and spoken English skills and solid proficiency in German
What you can expect
This position is initially limited to 2 years. An extension is explicitly desired. The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
