Head of Optical Signal Processing (Postdoc)

The working group ‘Submarine & Core Systems’ (SCS) in the department ‘Photonic Networks and Systems’ is looking for a topic leader in the field of ‘Optical Signal Processing’. The focus of the work in this field is on neuromorphic photonic signal processing technologies and all-optical signal processing for applications in optical communications engineering, fiber-based communication systems and beyond. In a series of research projects, novel neuromorphic photonic circuits are developed, tested and realized as prototypes in close cooperation with industry partners. The current vacancy is for a head of the subject area who will drive forward current research activities, acquire new projects and, in particular, accelerate the implementation of research results in industrial applications. You will work in the most modern research laboratories and test fields for optical communication technology in Europe. Be a part of our team and join us on our research and innovation journey!

Scientific management ‘Optical Signal Processing’ Management, coordination and processing of projects in research field Development of the research field with a focus on commercialization of research results with industrial partners Acquisition of industrial projects and publicly funded projects Presentation of R&D results towards internal and external partners Supervision of Bachelor's and Master's theses
What you bring to the table
Scientific university degree in physics, electrical engineering or a related subject with a completed doctorate Very good knowledge in the field of neuromorphic computing and/or optical signal processing Experience in the management of scientific projects, working groups and supervision of Bachelor's and Master's theses Experience in applying for publicly funded projects (EU, BMBF) Scientific experience abroad Fluent in English (verbal and written)
