ML Ops Engineer / System Architect

The "Explainable Artificial Intelligence" (XAI) group focuses on the development of powerful methods, and the analysis of aspects of interpretability and explainability in machine learning. A core research of the group is the intersection of explainability, fairness and robustness of machine learning models. We are seeking an experienced ML Ops Engineer and System Architect with expertise in building scalable systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in hosting and scaling large language models, both on cloud platforms and on-premise hardware. What you will do

  • Host and scale large language models in production environments

  • Build and maintain web applications using microservice or monolithic architectures

  • Configure servers and automate infrastructure with tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, or AWS

  • Saddled in server configuration languages like Python, Go, Bash, etc.

  • Develop backend services using Python or TypeScript

  • Bonus: Collaborate with frontend developers using TypeScript

 

What you bring to the table

  • 2-3 years of experience in end customer production environments, with a focus on MLOps and scalable architectures

  • Completed university degree (Bachelor or Master) or comparable qualification

  • Strong expertise in cloud platforms (AWS), infrastructure automation, and containerization

  • Proven track record of hosting large models and scaling them for wide usage

The position is initially limited to 2 years. An extension is explicitly desired.

 

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
