Mandatory internship in the field of machine vision (defect detection) 1

For over 35 years, the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology in Berlin has stood for excellence in production science. We are dedicated to bridging the gap between science and practice in the field of industrial production and offer application-oriented system solutions for the entire spectrum of industrial tasks – from product development to the production process, maintenance of capital goods, and recycling of products to the design and management of factory operations.

 

The Machine Vision department draws on its many years of expertise in image processing and pattern recognition to develop new fields of application, particularly for mobile recognition systems and for automated, robot-assisted object reconstruction and quality inspection.

 

What you will do

 

During your internship, you will work on a research project involving fault detection on bipolar plates. The focus is on designing and setting up a test environment for inspecting the plates with line scan cameras. The setup includes optical components, a movable carrier, and a connection to a control system and a data evaluation unit.

Your internship tasks will include the design, construction, and implementation of the test setup in collaboration with the project team.

 

What you bring to the table

 

  • You are enrolled in a technical degree program.
  • You have good written and spoken German or English skills.
  • You are a team player, but also enjoy working independently and in a structured manner.
  • You have good knowledge of design, electrical engineering, and programming.
  • You have previous experience in the field of camera technology.
  • You are able to work with Linux operating systems.
  • The mandatory internship should last at least 3 months.

The weekly working time is 39 hours (full-time).

Remuneration is based on the federal guidelines for internship remuneration.

The duration of the thesis depends on the requirements of your university.
