Scientist Photonic / Modulators and Photodetectors

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.com) currently operates 76 institutes and research institutions throughout Germany and is the world’s leading applied research organization. Around 30 800 employees work with an annual research budget of 3.0 billion euros.

Future. Together. Discover.

Excellent research and innovation are at the centre of the work of the HHI - Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications. Fraunhofer HHI is a world leader in the research of mobile and optical communication networks and systems as well as video signal coding and data processing. In the field of photodetectors, HHI has a leading position worldwide. The dynamics of this field of technology opens up the scope for exciting scientific projects with a clear application perspective. Photodetectors developed at HHI can be found at the end of optical fibers, in scientific detectors (e.g. LIGO, ALMA), in satellites for communication with laser beams and recently also in quantum communication and sensor applications. The development of photodetectors combines photonics, radio frequency engineering and semiconductor physics, three exciting and dynamic areas of applied research. Be a part of our team and come on a journey of research and innovation!
