What you will do
Development of optoelectronic terahertz (THz) systems using photonic integrated circuits (PICs) Simulation of optical properties of PICs, CAD design for fabrication of PICs, device characterization, development and assembly of the complete system, validation based on system experiments Development, setup and extension of measurement setups for characterization of photonically integrated components / systems Development of THz system demonstrators (THz optics, mechanics, electric circuit design, hardware-related programming and development of user interfaces) and their validation on industry-relevant problems Collaboration in national and international research projects and execution of development projects together with industrial partners
What you bring to the table
You have a good/very good Master's degree in electrical engineering / physics / engineering sciences with a focus on photonics or electronics You would like to do a PhD in the field of photonic terahertz technology You have profound knowledge in the areas of measurement techniques, photonic integration, lasers and optics You are familiar with Python-based data analysis Ideally, you have experience in the field of terahertz spectroscopy You bring along high motivation, initiative and the ability to work in a team Very good written and spoken German and English skills

The position is initially limited to 2 years. An extension is explicitly desired.
The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
