What you will do

  • Investigation and development of digital signal processing methods for efficient signal transmission and synchronization in coherent optical communication networks (literature research, modelling, simulations)

  • Laboratory experiments to evaluate the feasibility of planned approaches

  • Exchange with partners from industry and research in the BMBF joint project PONTROSA

 

What you bring to the table

  • Enrolled full-time Bachelor's/Master's student in physics, electrical engineering, computer science or a comparable field of study

  • Interest in optical communication systems, digital signal processing

  • Ability to work in a team, independently and autonomously

  • Practical experience with simulation software and programming, ideally MATLAB, Python, VPITransmissionMaker

  • Experience with setting up and carrying out laboratory experiments, operating devices such as signal generators, oscilloscopes

  • Fluent in written and spoken English

The position is initially limited to 1 year. An extension is explicitly desired.

 

The monthly working time is 80 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
