The “Wireless Communications and Networks” department of the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institute, develops wireless communication systems with a focus on future mobile communications generations (5G+ and 6G). The “Smart Wireless Connectivity (SWC)” working group works in an international environment on research projects to design communication methods and signal processing algorithms for future wireless technologies. We are looking for support in research projects on applications of 5G/6G-based communication technologies in robotics. Become part of our team and go on a research and innovation journey with us!
What you will do
Design, simulation and implementation of software for modern robotics systems (e.g. Boston Dynamics Spot, KUKA) Development of innovative applications Design of API solutions Development of codes to control hardware components Design and implementation of real-time software systems that enable responsive functionality in highly complex robot systems
What you bring to the table
Full-time studies with good grades at a German university or college in the following fields: electrical engineering, communications engineering, information technology, (medical) informatics, applied mathematics, physics or similar Interest in the design and implementation of software for robot systems Basics of computer science such as algorithms, data structures or object-oriented design in UNIX environments Experience in working with microservices architecture, design and implementation of RESTful APIs Development experience, especially in API development Good knowledge of Java, Python, HTML, ROS, or comparable Basic knowledge in the field of machine learning Good communication and willingness to work in an interdisciplinary manner

The monthly working time is 80 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
