Working Student Frontend Development / Web Development

The Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems FOKUS is one of the largest ICT institutes in the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.

We are looking for a working student to join our 30-strong Open Service Engineering (OSE) team as soon as possible to support the development of innovative web applications and dashboards.

 

What you will do

  • You are involved in
    • the coordination, consolidation and analysis of customer and project requirements
    • the conceptual and visual development of proposed solutions (e.g. mockups, database and API design)
  • You support the software development with modern web stacks
  • You will be involved in the integration and further development of existing open source solutions (e.g. Apache Superset)
  • You work closely with your colleagues and support each other with implementation work
  • You provide solutions and maintain them in container-based environments (e.g. Kubernetes) 

 

 

What you bring to the table

  • You are currently enrolled in a degree program with a focus on computer science for at least three semesters
  • You have advanced programming skills in Python, Javascript and React
  • You are characterized by an autonomous way of working, strong communication skills, solution-focused mindset and the ability to work in a team
  • Basic knowledge of Docker, Gitlab and devops as well as basic database knowledge in SQC is a plus
  • You are business fluent in German and have an advanced knowledge of English

The wage depends on the progress of your studies and is between 15.74 € and 17.27 € per hour.

The monthly working time is 80 hours. The contract is limited to one year. In general, we are interested in a longer-term collaboration.
