DevOps Engineer Digital Medicine (f/m/d)

Fraunhofer MEVIS is a world-leading research and development center for computer support in digital medicine. We pursue a patient-centered and clinical workflow-oriented approach to solving clinically relevant challenges in image- and data-based diagnosis and therapy. To deliver excellent results, our research and development teams increasingly rely on our on-premise cluster infrastructure to compile, test, and deploy our software products, or train state of the art deep learning models.

 

What you will do

Join us, the software infrastructure team to craft the foundation of future innovations in digital medicine! Our mission is to enable efficient research and support professional software development, a mission in which you will play an integral role. Your dedication, your ideas, and your opinions count. Together we will employ the latest DevOps technologies to improve our infrastructure and implement state-of-the-art solutions.

In close exchange with IT and R&D teams, you will design CI/CD pipelines for our projects and bolster our deep learning GPU-cluster infrastructure. Together with your team, you will ensure the reliable and secure operation of new medical software for research scientists, partners, and customers around the globe. You maintain the institute infrastructure in our shared code base using state-of-the-art open-source tools for automation. Your task is empowering our researchers with customized solutions and maintaining our tools efficiently in a high-growth environment.
 
Work either inside our team office in Bremen or remotely in the facilities of our project group in Lübeck.

 

What you bring to the table

  • passion for structured automation of processes via source code
  • previous experience in software development and DevOps related workflows
  • a high level of motivation to continuously educate yourself 
  • the ability to work in teams as well as independently
  • the will to rethink, design and improve system architecture
  • an above-average master's degree (scientific university degree) in computer science or a related subject
  • prior experience in Python programming and basic C/C++ skills
  • good German and English language skills

 
Prior experience optional but of advantage

  • with the HashiCorp stack, Docker, Puppet, GitLab-CI, Jenkins, Kubernetes, advanced topics in Git or SVN
  • in individual customization of open-source software
  • with CMake, Groovy, Conan
  • with clinical IT infrastructures
  • with hardening infrastructure for cyber security

The position is initially limited to 3 years. However, we are aiming for a long-term collaboration.

 

 

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
