Project and Sales Engineer* for Wind Measuring Projects

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.com) currently operates 76 institutes and research units throughout Germany and is a leading applied research organization. Around 32 000 employees work with an annual research budget of 3.4 billion euros.

Who we are ...
Our primary focuses at Fraunhofer IWES are on wind energy and hydrogen technologies. Our institute is home to more than 300 scientists and employees as well as over 100 students from over 30 countries pursuing careers in applied research and development at nine sites. We secure investments in technological developments through validation, shorten innovation cycles, accelerate certification procedures, and increase planning accuracy by means of innovative measurement methods.

This team is looking for you...
You will join our »Wind Measurement Campaign Operations« group at our site in Bremerhaven. Our common goal is the realization of innovative methods and procedures for wind measurement in research and industry projects. When doing so, we focus on transferring innovation into practical application both offshore and onshore – our Fraunhofer IWES wind lidar buoy is a prime example of this. Working in close cooperation with industrial partners, we adapt measuring concepts and their implementation to suit future requirements. At present, the team consists of eight research associates and several students. We support each other irrespective of our projects and backgrounds. A culture of open exchange and cooperation, even beyond team boundaries and sites, are particularly important to us.

What you will do

These duties await you...
You will be involved in a range of different industry and research projects in the field of onshore/offshore wind measurement. You will take over the management of (inter)national wind measuring projects. This also includes planning offshore deployments, primarily for our wind lidar buoy. When doing so, you will always keep a close eye on possible weather windows and ensure the customers’ requirements are met. You will compile the necessary documentation and coordinate the content with the clients. You will take care of the communication with internal and external service providers and ensure that suitable vessels are available. When doing so, you will guarantee compliance with occupational health and safety standards as well as customs regulations. In addition, you will take care of the necessary documentation and reporting.

No two days at work are ever the same!
Furthermore, you will help to win new industrial contracts for IWES. You will compile the sales documents for the offers, the calculations, and the technical documents to suit the clients’ requirements. You will also be responsible for the communication with potential clients and the contract negotiations. In addition, you will get actively involved by continuously optimizing internal processes, for example with regard to occupational health and safety regulations, quality, costs, and output. Furthermore, you will cooperate and communicate closely with the scientific and technical staff of the institute’s other groups in order to take all aspects into consideration in your work.
