Student Assistent - Department 3D Printing Technology

We, the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD, are looking for a student assistant for our Competence Center "3D Printing Technology" to join our team in the field of software development.
 
 
The Competence Center "3D Printing Technology" researches and develops software solutions in the field of graphical 3D printing and multi-material 3D printing.
 
 
A core element of our work is the 3D printer driver Cuttlefish which prepares data for 3D printing to achieve the optimal color reproduction. In addition, we develop data-driven design software to establish a digital process with additive manufacturing in the field of prosthetics. Most related to this position is Cuttlefish::Web, a browser-based frontend and backend, developed in JavaScript, proving a user-friendly graphical user interface for Cuttlefish. Therefore, you should bring knowledge in Javascript, CSS and HTML.

 

What you will do

Depending on your knowledge and skills, you will support our department in day-to-day software development tasks for Cuttlefish::Web and beyond. This can be testing releases, creating automated tests, creating documentation, automating tasks or implementing small features and bug fixes.

 

What you bring to the table

  • Enrollment as a student at a university or college in the field of computer science or similar
  • Knowledge in CSS and HTML, and a good programming level in JavaScript (especially Node.js and React.js)
  • Comfortable programming level in Python
  • Basic knowledge in software version control (especially Git)
  • Good written and spoken English skills
  • A conscientious and structured way of working

The weekly working time is 10-20 hours. The position is initially limited to three or six months; an extension is intended.
