Functional Safety Engineer
Developing innovative technology solutions and bringing them to application - that is our goal at the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems IPMS. With our expertise in the development of photonic microsystems, related technologies including nanoelectronics and wireless communication solutions, we create - in flexible and interdisciplinary teams - technologies for innovative products in a wide range of markets such as automotive, industrial and aerospace. Within Fraunhofer IPMS, the business unit Data Communication & Computing delivers product-related partial and complete solutions for customers and application-specific problems, from hardware to software. This includes selected wireless and wired communication technologies as well as edge computing. The focus of the work is on optical design as well as analog, mixed-signal and digital design, and hardware-related programming. Are you familiar with hardware and software safety? Then join our team and support the department and our customers in this context with developments of IP cores, ASICs, and embedded software.
What you will do
What you bring to the table
You have a degree in engineering (at least Bachelor) in electrical engineering, (technical) computer science or a comparable course of study. You have already gained at least two years of experience in a comparable position and have well-founded know-how in the field of development for functionally safe applications. In the area of standards such as ISO 262262 or Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) you bring previous knowledge. Knowledge of DO254 and DO178 is also desirable as well as experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama Connect, REQTIFY, or similar. Your working style is proactive, reliable and customer oriented. Good German and English skills complete your profile.

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
