STUDENT ASSISTANT (F/M/D) BUILDING ENERGY LABORATORY

Adaptivity is an indispensable property for the networked world of tomorrow. Intelligent components can detect and evaluate changes in the environment or in the system itself and adapt to them independently. As a partner of industry, Fraunhofer IIS/EAS develops key technologies for adaptive systems with approximately 110 employees at Dresden and offers innovative technologies and robust solutions.

In Germany, 40% of the primary energy demand is caused by buildings - the major part of it in the form of heat. In many buildings, however, the corresponding systems are not operated optimally. There is a large savings potential here, which is being researched in our laboratory. We are looking for a student assistant (f/m) for the setup and operation of test rigs with immediate effect.

What you will do

Your tasks include support in the construction and operation of test rigs in the field of building services engineering. This involves both the acquisition of measured values, control of system components and coupling with simulators (hardware in the loop).

The range of tasks includes:

Setup and maintenance of the measured value acquisition
Implementation of the control of actuators (valves, pumps etc.)
Development and maintenance of a database for measurement and control data
Documentation

What you bring to the table

- You study computer science, mathematics, a natural or engineering science and preferably have knowledge in the field of building services engineering.
- Your profile is rounded off by the following characteristics and competencies:

Experience with Matlab, Modelica or Python.
Experience with automatic measurement data acquisition / control of actuators
Interest, ideally already experience with Machine Learning
very good analytical and conceptual skills
structured, independent work and initiative
Interest in environmental technologies of the future
