Project Manager - Neuromorphic Computing & Embedded AI

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.com) currently operates 76 institutes and research institutions throughout Germany and is the world’s leading applied research organization. Around 30 000 employees work with an annual research budget of 2.9 billion euros. 

In recent years, Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS has rapidly expanded its activities in the fields of »Embedded AI« and »Neuromorphic Computing«. The Embedded AI Group focuses on developing concepts for analog and digital hardware architectures, as well as the necessary software frameworks for accelerating neural networks. In addition, the team creates and uses AI algorithms that run on resource-limited embedded processors.

 

Our projects, especially for chip development, require extensive coordination due to their size and complexity.

What you will do

  • You will take charge of the professional project management of research and industrial projects including subprojects and the coordination of project proposals.
  • To this end, you will expertly structure, control and monitor the course of the project to achieve various deadline, cost, and performance targets.
  • In this role, you will be in constant communication and consultation with the project team, internal departments, customers, and various project partners.
  • Support of group and department management in portfolio management as well as support of technical project managers in controlling and reporting
  • In addition, you will support the technical project management team in controlling and reporting tasks along with the group and department management regarding portfolio management.

 

What you bring to the table

  • Degree in a STEM subject
  • Experience with classical and agile project management methods
  • An IPMA Level D certificate is desirable, knowledge of machine learning, hardware and software development is an advantage
  • Good German and English skills to collaborate in an international team
  • Ideally know-how in machine learning, hardware and software development
  • As a strong project manager with excellent communication skills, you have outstanding analytical and structured thinking skills, which are reflected in your ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new technical and scientific contexts.

The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position can also be filled on a part-time basis. The position is initially limited to two years. An extension is being sought.
