Research Assistant - Simulation of electronic devices and circuits (all genders)

At the Erlangen site, the more than 400 employees of the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Systems and Device Technology IISB carry out application-oriented research and development on innovative topics in semiconductor technology and power electronics.

 

The mission of the »Modeling and Artificial Intelligence« department is to optimize processes, components and systems, including their reliability and resource efficiency during production and operation. The focus of our »TCAD« team is on working with Technology Computer-Aided Design (TCAD), which is used to investigate the electrical properties of components as a function of the processing technology.

We are looking for a research assistant (all genders) for the simulation of the manufacture and properties of electronic devices and circuits as soon as possible.

 

 

What you will do

  • Development and adaptation of physical models and software tools for the simulation of the manufacturing processes of electronic devices
  • Application of commercial programs for the simulation of manufacturing processes and the electrical behavior of electronic devices
  • Linking of device simulations with tools for modeling of the electrical behavior of circuits, e.g., using compact models
  • Collaboration with groups experimentally working on technology development, in-house and with customers and project partners
  • Collaboration on projects with industrial customers and on national and European research projects

 

What you bring to the table

  • Scientific university degree (Master) in physics or electrical engineering or a comparable subject
  • Knowledge and experience of semiconductor physics, numerical simulation and programming in object-oriented languages such as Python or C++
  • Fluency in German and English
  • Independence, personal responsibility and a structured, team-oriented way of working
  • Ideally experience with TCAD simulation software

The position is initially limited to two years.

 

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
