Research Associate / PhD Student 5G Standardization / 6G Power Saving

Our Broadband and Broadcast Department is driving the development of new technologies for wireless communications systems. To this end, it is conducting successful research across many areas of mobile broadband communication, the Internet of Things, automotive solutions and artificial intelligence. What you will do

In our dedicated team you will contribute to the concept design on sustainability or energy efficiency in the area of 5G/6G mobile communications. For this purpose, you will follow the 3GPP standardization work in the area of power saving. You will work in detail on their technical specifications and present them to the team. In this context, you will also independently develop technical and scientific contributions as well as proposed solutions for technological tasks. You will also supervise student theses and contribute to scientific publications. There is the possibility to do a PhD in the field of 6G Power Saving.


What you bring to the table

  • Completed scientific university degree in electrical engineering, computer science or a related field
  • Good knowledge of the mobile communication standards LTE and 5G
  • Enjoy creative, cooperative work and the development of new ideas as well as open exchange within the team
  • Good knowledge of English for working in an international environment 


In addition, knowledge of or interest in the following topics is an advantage (comprehensive familiarization is guaranteed):

  • Mobile radio knowledge with focus on Layer 2 / Layer 3 based on 3GPP technical specifications for NR.
  • Experience in UE / Network Power Saving
  • Experience with LTE / 5G especially in the mobile area as well as link or system level simulation
  • German language skills

The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position is initially limited to 2 years with the aim to extend it subsequently.
