Video Coding Application Engineer / Product Manager

Our mission is to invent novel technologies for 2D and 6DoF video coding that have a huge impact for our customers. To this end, you are responsible to identify the needs of customers and markets. You will establish a network to industry representatives and maintain a continuous communication to identify their needs. Thanks to your technical background, you are able to propose them tailored solutions in cooperation with a team of scientists. By attending events and observing markets, you identify high potential business opportunities to which our video coding developments should be focused.

About us
The Fraunhofer IIS »Audio and Media Technologies« division has been making its mark on media digitalization for over 30 years, developing pioneering standards such as MP3, AAC, xHE‑AAC and EVS. Motivated by this success, we aim to transfer this know-how to solve new challenges in video coding for better user experiences and higher system efficiency.


What you bring to the table

  • A scientific degree (Master, PHD or equivalent) in Electronics, Computer Science, Natural Science, Engineering Science, or a related subject
  • Enthusiasm for business development and for serving customer needs
  • Passionate team player
  • Solid know-how in video coding
  • Sound command of English for working in an international team


What you can expect

We offer you varied and challenging work in an enthusiastic team. You can contribute with your ideas and help design new concepts. Regular training is given, as are flexible, family-friendly work arrangements such as part-time contracts. You will have a state-of-the-art workstation in a modern, bright 2- to 3-person office.


The position is initially limited to 2 years with the aim to extend it subsequently. The weekly working time is 39 hours.
