Software Developer - Development of multimodal Reconstruction Methods

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft ( currently operates 76 institutes and research institutions throughout Germany and is the world’s leading applied research organization. Around 30 000 employees work with an annual research budget of 2.9 billion euros. 

The group »Operator based learning« in Fürth deals with incorporating knowledge from physics, signal processing and mathematics into Deep Learning models and increasing the generalizability of the generated solution and reducing the dependency on training data. We develop solutions for signal reconstruction in the context of industrial metrology and non-destructive material testing.

What you will do

We are looking for a software developer to develop multimodal reconstruction methods based on analytical as well as novel machine learning methods in the context of industrial metrology and non-destructive material testing. Your tasks will include the algorithmic implementation of existing reconstruction methods and their methodological development and combination into novel multimodal methods. Parts of the developed procedures should be implemented by data-driven methods.


What you bring to the table

  • A scientific degree (Master, PhD or equivalent) in Electronics, Computer Science, Natural Science, Engineering Science or a related subject
  • Experience in using C++ and CUDA
  • Background in signal processing and computer vision
  • Confident with version control like GIT and units tests framework like google test
  • Expertise in machine learning or reconstruction would be desirable 
  • Knowledge of Python and Pytorch / Tensorflow is an advantage


The position is also suitable for career starters with corresponding prior knowledge and experience from internships, student research projects or final theses.

The weekly working time is 39 hours. It is also possible to work part-time. The position is initially limited to 2 years with the aim to extend it subsequently
