Masters Thesis "Research Assistant Multi-objective optimization of decentralized energy systems"
The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg is the largest solar research institute in Europe. Our approximately 1400employees work towards a sustainable, economical, safe and socially just energy supply system based on renewable energies. We contribute tothis with our research focus on energy supply, energy distribution, energy storage and energy use. Through outstanding research results, successful industrial projects, company spin-offs and global cooperation, we are shaping the sustainable transformation of the energy system. We are looking for a student who is interested in the multi-criteria optimization of decentralized energy systems and who will write his/her master's thesis on this topic. You will familiarize yourself with the field of home energy management systems, with a focus on the integration of market-oriented and grid-supporting flexibility use. The increasing market penetration of electric vehicles has increased the possibility of critical grid conditions that can be mitigated by utilizing the flexibility of EV charging processes. However, it is crucial to explore how this flexibility can be used not only for grid-serving purposes but also for market-based procurement optimization to accommodate the objectives of different stakeholders.
Our team "Data-based Management of Energy Systems" deals with the economic, technical and regulatory requirements of decentralizedenergy systems and decentralized supply concepts (e.g. neighborhoods, energy communities or energy sharing).
