Group Leader Mechanical Engineering - Industry 4.0 - Smart Machine and Production Design

Fraunhofer IKTS conducts application-oriented research for advanced ceramics. The three locations in Dresden and Hermsdorf (Thuringia) form the largest ceramics research institute in Europe. As a research and technology service provider, we develop modern ceramic high-performance materials, industry-relevant manufacturing processes as well as prototype components and systems in complete production lines up to pilot scale. In addition, the portfolio includes the competencies of materials diagnostics and testing. At the newly created site in the Erfurter Kreuz industrial park in Arnstadt, Fraunhofer IKTS is involved in the Battery Innovation and Technology Center with the development of system solutions for the networked, digitally supported production and quality assurance of energy storage systems as well as other products that rely very heavily on innovative materials such as ceramics. Here, Industry 4.0 solutions are developed in hardware and software applications and, in the future, training and education concepts are offered in the areas of Industry 4.0, battery production and e-mobility.

 

 

What you will do

  • Technical and disciplinary management of the working group
  • Professional steering of research and development work, mainly in the field of Industry 4.0-enabled pilot lines (and plants)
  • Acquisition of research and industry projects
  • Writing and publishing scientific articles for journals and conferences
  • Leading the strategic direction of the group as well as its development

 

 

What you bring to the table

You have a degree in engineering, preferably mechanical engineering. In addition, you ideally bring a doctorate and have several years of professional experience in industry, namely in the field of new development fields with personnel responsibility. You have proven competencies in plant automation. You are also able to evaluate new developments from a business perspective.

The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position is limited up to 2 years and can also be filled on a part-time basis.
