The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering (IOF) in Jena conducts applied research in optical system technology on behalf of the industry and as part of publicly funded joint projects. The range of services offered by the Fraunhofer IOF includes system solutions, starting with new design concepts, through the development of technologies, manufacturing and measuring methods to the construction of prototypes and pilot series for applications in the wavelength range from millimeter to nanometer.

What you will do

  • Supporting the strategy development in the context of Fraunhofer within the EU
  • Conceptualizing, developing, structuring, formulating, initializing and (re)presenting ideas of collaborative research activities across Fraunhofer institutes and within the EU
  • Identification of key stakeholders as well as monitoring and analysis of technologies, companies, and ecosystems
  • Organize and engage in industrial quantum technology workshops, meetings, and fairs, and explore and connect with companies for technical and business discussions
  • Cooperation in innovation and technology transfer projects


What you bring to the table

  • You have a university degree in STEM studies e. g. physics or business studies with interface to natural sciences / engineering and focus on management / entrepreneurship, ideally an educational background or interest in quantum physics.
  • You also have experience in leading or coordinating EU-funded research activities and ideally first practical experience in the deeptech / quantum technology environment.
  • You are a team player with the ability to work independently, in a solution-oriented manner, and with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • In addition you have also very good organisational and IT skills.
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills in English and German, other languages are a plus.

The weekly working time is 39 hours. The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position can also be filled on part-time The position is initially limited to 2 years with possibility for prolongation.
