For the department »Laser and Fiber Technology« we are looking for a dedicated student who is interested in innovative technologies and fiber technology. The position offers the opportunity to work on an exciting project, which can be carried out as an internship, student assistantship or also as part of a thesis (Bachelor or Master).

 

What you will do

In our group, we are dedicated to the entire process chain of fiber technology, starting from the design and development of differently doped glasses to the production of preforms, drawing into fibers and final characterization. In order to consolidate our leading position and unique selling proposition in this field, continuous technological enhancements and new developments are essential. Currently, the focus is on the development and implementation of a surface preparation technology for holes drilled in glass cylinders. This technology will complete and further optimize the production of preforms. Your main task will be to support the implementation of this new technology into our existing fiber manufacturing process chain.

What you bring to the table

  • Degree in engineering, materials science, precision engineering, natural sciences, or a related discipline
  • Technical understanding and interest in new technologies
  • Independent and structured way of working
  • Ability to work in a team and good communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of glass processing and/or fiber technology is an advantage, but not a prerequisite

The monthly working time is agreed upon individually. The work contract will be limited. We are looking for a long-term cooperation. Remuneration according to the general works agreement for employing assistant staff.
