Research assistant - development/application of leading simulation software

The "Transport Processes" department of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM is concerned with the modelling and efficient simulation of complex industrial problems for the design and optimisation of technical processes and products.


One focus is the development of the software tool MESHFREE for fluid and continuum mechanics applications, which has already been in productive use for several years with well-known industrial partners. Our goal: to make MESHFREE a permanent fixture on the market - with your support!

What you will do

  • Design and implementation of new algorithms in MESHFREE
  • Expansion of the software's quality management
  • Presentation and documentation of results
  • Acquisition and processing of projects with industrial partners or research institutions as part of a team 
  • Taking over individual topics after induction

 

What you bring to the table

  • University degree in mathematics, mechanical engineering, physics, computer science or similar 
  • Advanced programming skills in one or ideally several programming languages: Fortran, C/C++, Matlab and Python
  • Experience in scientific computing
  • Independent, creative and structured way of working 
  • High motivation, ability to work in a team, commitment and reliability
  • Very good German and English
