Student Assistant for Probabilistic Machine Learning and Process Optimization

At the Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation IOSB, we turn the latest scientific findings into technical innovations and want to make our contribution to shaping the future. We are currently looking for reinforcement for our team that deals with machine learning for process optimization. We are located at the Karlsruher Forschungsfabrik, and therefore have the unique opportunity to research the future topic "Intelligent Production" on real processes in a practical way.

What you will do

Develop optimization programs for stochastic processes
Work with SOTA probabilistic machine learning models
Work with SOTA optimization algorithms
Work on real world manufacturing optimization problems

What you bring to the table

Enrollment at a college or university with a suitable field of study engineering, mathematics, physics
Good foundation of machine learning, probability and statistics, linear algebra and calculus
Working knowledge of Gaussian Process, Variational Inference and or Bayesian Optimization would be beneficial
Curiosity and willingness to learn new concepts
Working knowledge of python with good coding practices

The maximum monthly working time is 80 hours. The position is advertised for a limited period, with the possibility of extension.
