Research Associate - Grid integration of charging stations

The Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology ISIT is part of the Fraunhofer Society and works with approximately 180 employees at the locations Itzehoe and Kiel in a leading position with industry and research on a national and international level.

Our scientists develop power ekectronics systems, converters, and components (GaN and silicon), as well as silicon-based microsystems and high-performance battery-based energy storage systems.

 

For our research group "Electronic Energy Systems" we are looking for a scientist for the integration of charging stations.

 

What you will do

  • Research in the direction of grid-integration of (fast) charging station.
  • Research on DC-, AC-, and hybrid- micro-grids.
  • Communication of your results internally and externally and collaboration with scientists in the team 
  • Support role in scientific profiling by means of publications as well as acquisition of research and industrial projects

 

What you bring to the table

  • Completed scientific education (Master's or PhD degree) in electrical engineering, power electronics, or a comparable qualification in a related field
  • Sound knowledge about AC-, DC-, and hybrid grids, as well as their interconnection points
  • General knowledge in power conversion and on the structure of charging stations
  • High degree of independence, initiative, and commitment. High curiosity and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to quickly familiarise yourself with new problems and to take responsibility in a team
  • Fluent written and spoken English

The weekly working time is 39 hours.
