Fraunhofer IMTE develops innovative and unique solutions for healthcare in the fields of medical technology, cell technology, and aquaculture. Its research mainly focusses on the safe translation of these solutions into beneficial applications for a healthy society. With a research cycle of prevention, diagnostics, therapy, and rehabilitation, we are redefining the concept of Circular Health, thus, fostering an ideal ecosystem for the individualization of health technologies.

At the interface to clinical and technical partners, you are given the opportunity to facilitate new technologies and research findings in both simulation and practical implementation, as well as to derive new research topics from clinical/technical demands and challenges. Hence, your personality and competences become an essential value for our personalized medical technology, covering the entire workflow from measurement technology and diagnostics to patient-specific therapy.

 
What you will do

You will address current research questions in medical technology in an interdisciplinary setting, specifically in the field of (semi-)automated medical technology, particularly robotics for advanced imaging procedures. Your main tasks comprise of:

  • Design, development, and research of robotic approaches in the imaging context (X-ray/CT), particularly regarding strategies for trajectory and path planning, control, modelling, and system integration
  • Evaluation of implemented solutions and concepts in simulation domain
  • Transfer of results from simulation to a real demonstrator application, taking into account application-specific conditions and constraints
 
 
What you bring to the table
  • Completed scientific university degree in the field of robotics, technical cybernetics, mechatronics, medical technology, autonomous systems, or similar studies
  • Good knowledge in robotics (kinematics, dynamics and control), robotic simulation, trajectory and path planning and optimization, system theory as well as hardware and software development
  • Enthusiasm for the conceptualization and development of complex robotic systems in combination with imaging components
  • Experience in the application of CAD systems (especially SolidWorks) is desirable
  • Knowledge of imaging methodologies is advantageous
  • Very good proficiency with common programming languages and simulation environments such as Matlab, Simulink, Python, C/C++ is desirable
  • Strong ambition and readiness to contribute to state-of-the-art research
  • Willingness and self-driven character for interdisciplinary research & development in the field of X-ray/CT and robotics

Remuneration up to TVöD pay group 13 (dependent on qualifications). The position is initially limited until 30 June 2027, with the intention of continuing employment.
 
The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
