The Fraunhofer-Society (www.fraunhofer.de) currently operates 76 institutes and research facilities in Germany and is the world’s leading organization for application-oriented research. Around 30,000 employees work on the annual research volume of 2.9 billion euros. As an innovative and unique research institution, Fraunhofer IMTE develops intelligent systems and processes for health in the fields of medical technology, cell technology and aquaculture. The focus is on the safe translation of these solutions into beneficial applications for a healthy society. With a cycle of prevention, diagnostics, therapy and rehabilitation, we are redefining the concept of circular health and creating ideal conditions for the individualization of health technologies. Additive Manufacturing: Data Science + AI: The Data Science and Artificial Intelligence department at Fraunhofer IMTE investigates issues relating to model-based and AI-supported medical software solutions. The range of services extends from the development of digital patient models to the design of efficient network architectures and standard-compliant validation through to deployment on the target hardware. Clinical & Regulatory Affairs: Health: Are you enthusiastic about our fields of research and are a (prospective) expert in one of the Central Business Areas, but there is currently no suitable position advertised? We are regularly on the lookout for talented people who want to work with us to drive forward research projects and innovations in medical technology and make a valuable contribution to society.
In the field of medical technology, 3D printing is accelerating the development of new methods by shortening development cycles, but also because highly integrated components enable solutions that would be difficult to implement conventionally. In combination with three-dimensional data sets from imaging modalities such as CT, MRI and ultrasound, this offers promising synergies for individualizing healthcare.
The Clinical and Regulatory Affairs department at Fraunhofer IMTE has outstanding expertise in the field of medical technology, including in-vitro diagnostics, in supporting processes from the initial idea through to application in patients. Thanks to the close links between Clinical and Regulatory Affairs, we can provide optimum support from development through to market launch and monitoring on the market (PMS/PMCF).
In close cooperation with the UKSH Lübeck, the central business unit Health at Fraunhofer IMTE combines clinical research and development projects as well as training and testing opportunities for medical technology manufacturers in an innovative research OR. The focus is particularly on technology transfer from development to application. This addresses issues from various technological and medical fields, such as the safe automation of critical processes, medical imaging for navigation, the integration of intelligent, multimodal support systems in the operating room, usability to increase user-friendliness and the preclinical evaluation of new procedures.
