Digital and Mixed-Signal Design Engineer

Fraunhofer EMFT conducts applied research on sensors and actuators. The 120 employees in Munich, Oberpfaffenhofen and Regensburg possess long-term experience and extensive know-how in microelectronics and microsystem technology, ranging from semiconductor processes and MEMS technologies to 3D integration and foil electronics. These technologies form the basis for the other competence areas at Fraunhofer EMFT: innovative sensor solutions, safe and secure electronics, and micro dosing.

You can look forward to an exciting task in the Circuit Design team located in our Munich office. In our team you will realize power-efficient integrated RF, analog and mixed-signal circuits in highly-scaled CMOS for intelligent mobile sensor and actuator applications based on specifications of our national and international customers and research partners.

 

What you will do

  • You will work with the team to understand the top level requirements of the digital functions and perform digital design and mixed signal chip integration for RF- and sensor/actuator frontend IC’s, incl. high performance ADC’S and DAC’s.
  • Implement the function in Verilog RTL to specification
  • Develop RTL to implement the function, perform unit level testing on the RTL function and RTL synthesis and timing checks
  • You will be responsible for the digital design flows for various process nodes
  • You publish research results and represent them at conferences.
  • You will supervise students in the course of writing their Bachelor's or Master's thesis.

 

What you bring to the table

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Project experience in the field of digital or mixed-signal IC design
  • Experience in digital design including RTL design experience
  • Knowledge of best practices with respect to implementation of digital logic
  • Understanding of digital design flow including RTL simulation, logic synthesis, timing constraints, timing closure, STA, back annotation of parasitics, gate level simulation, equivalence checking
  • Understanding of Design Verification and the ability to write self-checking test suites
  • Experience in setting up the Cadence tool chain setup (Tool/PDK/addon/library installation) for both digital and mixed-signal projects.
  • Good knowledge of the Cadence Design Flow and implementation of the specification up to a complete circuit including layout under consideration of parasitic effects
  • Good knowledge and experience in hands-on lab evaluation, in setting up a test environment for the verification of integrated circuits incl. PCB layout, test hardware and software for the automation of the measurement environment
