CAREER IN MICROTECHNOLOGY RESEARCH – BIG OPPORTUNITIES WITH SMALL STRUCTURES!
CHANGE STARTS WITH US.

Do you want to change the world through science? Then the Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Microsystems and Solid State Technologies EMFT is the perfect place to start your career!
With around 190 highly qualified employees at our locations in Munich, Oberpfaffenhofen and Regensburg, we combine many years of experience with extensive expertise in microelectronics and microsystems technology. Our wide range of technologies spans from advanced semiconductor processes and MEMS technologies to innovative 3D integration and flexible electronics.
These nano and microtechnologies form the foundation of our diverse fields of expertise, which include sensor technology, circuit design, system solutions with AI, analysis and testing, as well as micropumps.
Through the close collaboration of our experts, not only groundbreaking innovations arise, but also synergies that enable Fraunhofer EMFT to effectively tackle the complex challenges of our time.

Look forward to an exciting task in the Circuit Design team at our branch in Munich. In our team, you will realize neuromorphic processors based on the by Fraunhofer developed architecture SENNA, where you will be involved in every step of development from specification to physical implementation.

What you will do

  • You work together in a team on the development of system architectures and mixed-signal blocks such as amplifiers, comparators, and custom digital cells down to the transistor and layout level.
  • You participate in the development of software tools for the design and application of neuromorphic processors.
  • You define the test and verification setup for the neuromorphic processors and conduct tests on a test circuit board.
  • You collaborate with industrial customers and research partners, defining system-level descriptions and other related specifications for the neuromorphic processors.
  • You publish research results and represent them at conferences.
  • You supervise students in the preparation of their bachelor’s or master’s theses.

What you bring to the table

  • Above-average academic degree in electrical engineering
  • At least 3 years of professional experience
  • Enjoyment in working interdisciplinary and learning new things
  • Very good knowledge in the design of mixed-signal integrated circuits
  • Good knowledge of the Cadence design workflow and the implementation of a specification down to a complete circuit including layout, considering process variability and parasitic effects
  • Good knowledge in setting up a test environment for the verification of integrated circuits
  • Good knowledge in programming, e.g., with Python
  • Tape-out experience

If you enjoy creative work and developing new ideas and prefer a structured and team-oriented working style, we look forward to your application!

What you can expect

In our open-minded team, you can set your own accents, realize your ideas in projects, and develop scientifically, professionally, and personally. Fraunhofer supports you with various offerings to best reconcile family, work, and career development.
We promote rapid skill development, allowing you to work independently quickly. The possibility of pursuing a doctorate is available and supported.
