Working Student: App Development & Trustworthy LLMs in Health

What you will do

In our Trustworthy Digital Health group, we are looking for a proactive working student to support the development of a mobile application and evaluation of explainable LLM agents in the field of women’s health. This role will involve a mix of app development tasks and support for the LLM agent project.

Onsite attendance of 1-2 times per week required.

Your responsibilities/tasks

Co-develop a mobile app in the field of women’s health and support to integrate the LLM agent as the technical core.
Co-refine mobile app requirements and features – your own proactive ideas are encouraged.
Assist in the evaluation and documentation of the LLM agent, e.g., investigate LLM explainability evaluation metrics and conduct experiments.
Provide support in the LLM agent project based on competencies.
Collaborate with the team, LLM and health experts to gain insights and evaluate the mobile app.

What you bring to the table

Ideally

University studies in software engineering, computer science, or a related field.
Sound programming skills, especially in JavaScript/Typescript and Python.
Experience in mobile app development.
Fluent German language skills (C1) for a proficient understanding of German health data.
Strong analytical thinking and an eye for detail, usability and design.
Willingness to learn and adapt to various technical tasks.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
Ability to conduct independent experiments and transfer findings into practical applications.

Additional capabilities would be desirable

First hands-on experience with AI technologies (LLMs, RAGs and agentic approaches).
Familiar with versioning tools (e.g. git) and software project management.
