You are excited by reinforcement learning? You want to drive technological innovation with a team of dedicated researchers?

Then take a look at our job offer!

In our group »Self-Learning Systems« at Fraunhofer IIS we combine expertise in various advanced machine learning topics. One of our research goals is to provide robust and safe algorithmic solutions for control and decision-making tasks for systems in complex dynamic environments. To this end, we employ deep learning in combination with reinforcement-learning techniques. We explore reinforcement learning for process engineering and radio network control as well as variational quantum circuits and other topics from the industry.

What you will do

•    Developing AI for e.g., quantum computing, process engineering, or MIMO-beamforming
•    Investigating strategies for safe, inverse and/or offline reinforcement learning and combinations thereof
•    Participating in cooperation projects with industry and research institutions
•    Managing project assignments and/or supervising students
•    Disseminating research results in scientific publications, lectures and by attending outreach activities aimed at the general public (e.g., events, trade fairs, etc.)

What you bring to the table

•    A scientific degree in computer science, physics, math, or similar. A doctorate is a plus.
•    Experience in machine learning and deep neural networks
•    Knowledge in reinforcement learning (esp. model-free methods and policy gradients)
•    Programming experience in python
•    Fluent English in word and text

What you can expect

Fraunhofer is not only the largest application-oriented research organization in Europe but we are also a top-rated employer! But why?
•    Top infrastructure at your work place: With our state-of-the-art technologies, we develop solutions to meet the challenges of present and future.
•    We value personal contact: Through our structured onboarding process, you easily become familiar with our institute and are able to extend your network successfully.
•     We take your needs seriously: Thanks to flexible hours and hybrid work models, we help you to achieve the best possible work-life balance.
•    We care about your goals and interests: We offer regular professional and personal seminars, coaching sessions and language courses, giving you every opportunity to expand your expertise.

We value and promote the diversity of our employees' skills and therefore welcome all applications - regardless of age, gender, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion, ideology, disability, sexual orientation and identity. Severely disabled persons are given preference in the event of equal suitability.
