The project the internship is assigned to focuses on developing a novel process for recovering nutrients from wastewater in the form of a high-quality liquid fertilizer. One of the critical steps in the process is the removal of sodium chloride by ion exchange. As an intern, you will join the project's process development team and support the ongoing work on the optimization of this process step.

 

What you will do

  • Conduct isotherm experiments with various ion exchange resins

  • Pack and prepare ion exchange columns, ensuring proper setup for experiments

  • Measure ion concentrations using analytical techniques

  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, with a preference for Python-based data analysis

 

What you bring to the table

  • Studies in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with laboratory work and analytical chemistry techniques and experience with ion exchange chromatography or other column chromatography techniques
  • Proficiency in data analysis (Excel or similar tools)
  • Capacity to work independently in a laboratory environment
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in English and German for effective communication in the lab

The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position can also be filled on a part-time basis.
