Master's thesis "Catalysts for the production of fine chemicals from CO2"

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.com) currently operates 76 institutes and research units throughout Germany and is a leading applied research organization. Around 32 000 employees work with an annual research budget of 3.4 billion euros.

We want an earth that is worth living on. Our applied research in Circular Economy, Carbon Management, Green Hydrogen and Local Energy Systems makes concrete contributions to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. As an institute of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, we show how to not only master challenges, but grow with them. We push boundaries, think ahead and shape the future with applied research. Diverse perspectives and approaches strengthen creativity and innovation in our scientific work.

Would you like to help us shape a sustainable world? We are looking for reinforcement!

As part of a project in the field of “Material CO2 utilisation”, heterogeneous catalysts are to be synthesized, characterized and tested on a laboratory scale. The target products of the catalytic reaction are organic fine chemicals.

What you will do

  • Planning and conducting experiments (synthesis, characterization and testing of heterogeneous catalysts)

  • Independent evaluation of the test results and determination of parameters such as product yield and catalyst service life

What you bring to the table

  • Studies in the field of chemistry
  • Good knowledge of organic chemistry
  • Experience in organic synthesis (laboratory work)
  • Knowledge in the evaluation of NMR data
  • Good knowledge of English is an advantage
