As part of the Carbon2Chem® project, methods for the material use of waste gases from steelworks are being investigated in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. At Fraunhofer UMSICHT, we are researching a methanol synthesis from CO2 and are looking for support as part of a master's thesis!

 

What you will do

  • Development of a simulation model for methanol distillation in Aspen Plus
  • Evaluation of the influence of by-products
  • Concept development for variable raw methanol compositions
  • Verification of the simulation results in a pilot plant rectification

 

What you bring to the table

  • Studies in the field of in process engineering, chemical engineering or a similar field
  • Experience with Aspen Plus
  • Ideally initial knowledge of Python
  • Confident handling of glassware in the laboratory
  • Very good knowledge of German or English
