Bachelor or master thesis in the field of electrochemical processes in Straubing

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.com) currently operates 76 institutes and research institutions throughout Germany and is the world’s leading applied research organization. Around 30 800 employees work with an annual research budget of 3.0 billion euros.

At the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology IGB, we combine biology and technology across competencies in our business areas of Health, Sustainable Chemistry, and Environment. For more than 70 years, we have been developing processes, technologies, and products and successfully bringing them to industrial application. We conduct research at our sites in Stuttgart, Leuna, and Straubing in close cooperation with numerous universities and research institutes in Germany and abroad.

In the Innovation Field of Sustainable Catalytic Processes, we develop methods to the sustainable green transition to a circular economy in industrial chemical production. Through electrocatalytic power-to-X-to-Y processes, CO2 can be converted into platform chemicals. Bachelor's or Master's theses in our group are involved in the preparation of electrodes and its characterization in electrochemical processes. In addition, there is a focus on upscaling to bridge the gap between laboratory and industrial applications. Topics of interests are electrochemical CO2 reduction and electrochemical upgrade of bio-based compounds.
