Evaluation of methods for systemic integration of complex robots

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.com) currently operates 76 institutes and research institutions throughout Germany and is the world’s leading applied research organization. Around 30 000 employees work with an annual research budget of 2.9 billion euros.

Our Robot and Assistive Systems department develops robot solutions and supporting technologies for application fields such as manufacturing, logistics, and robot-assisted living. A significant example of our work is the Care-O-bot 4 platform, a technology test bed as well as a product by one of our spin-off companies.

Due to the non-existent standardization in the robtics domain, the task of integrating devices from different vendors is very tedious and costly. One of our newest initiatives targets the easy integration and deployment of complex robotics systems by using model-driven engineering techniques for software development.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to apply and evaluate our methodologies and technical solution on real robotic scenarios.

Implement, setup and sucessfully deploy real robot system usign different techniques
Test and verify the resulted robot and their functionality
Comparison and assessment of performance across approaches.

Was Sie mitbringen

Required:

Ability to work independently
Motivation to learn and perform challenging tasks
Creativity and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

Experience Modellig Software Frameworks
Experience with the Robot Operating System (ROS) framework
Experience using version control systems, specially GitHub
